Join Maxwell, David Belle, Paul Beauburn & More For Haiti Optimiste 2016

On Wednesday, June 1, the Artists for Peace and Justice/Cine Institute and French Institute:Alliance Francais are hosting Haiti Optimiste, a celebration of creativity and culture through music, dance and film.

Guests will enjoy a special screening of Dans la cour de Vivianne Gauthier, as well as musical performances by Paul Beaubrun, Lakou Mizik and Riva Précil with Bohio Music.

Artists for Peace and Justice (apjnow.org) and Artists Institute of Haiti (www.artistsinstitute.org) join French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) to present Haïti Optimiste on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 7pm at Florence Gould Hall; 55 East 59th Street, NYC.

Attend a star-studded celebration of creativity and culture through music, dance and film benefiting Artists Institute of Jacmel, a college for art and technology located in Jacmel. The evening will be hosted by Grammy Award-Winning musician Maxwell and will include: a screening of the film Dans la cour de Vivianne Gauther; musical performances by Paul Beaubrun, leading Haitian singer/songwriter and guitarist who has performed and collaborated with Arcade Fire, Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow and Lauryn Hill; Riva Précil with Bohio Music, a Haitian fusion of roots/racine, jazz, and African tones; Lakou Mizik, a multi-generational Haitian roots band; and a Q&A with Maxwell and Artists Institute founder David Belle with special guests.

Guests purchasing VIP and Reception tickets will enjoy an exclusive cocktail reception in FIAF’s Tinker Auditorium with tasty Haitian delicacies expertly prepared by notable Haitian chef Nadege Fleurimond, author of the cookbook Haiti Uncovered: A Regional Adventure into the Art of Haitian Cuisine.

Artists Institute is a college for art and technology located in Jacmel, Haiti. The Institute creates modern opportunities for Haiti’s youth to foster entrepreneurship and business development in local creative industries. The Institute currently offers programs in film through Ciné Institute, and music production and audio engineering through Audio Institute: We Are the World School of Music and Audio Engineering. Each division offers programs in training, employment and professional support.
