Port-au-Prince Today….

In central Port-au-Prince there is still extensive damage from the devastating earthquake that took place 2 years ago. The vast majority of buildings in the center of town are too dangerous to be inhabited with some, such as the one pictured, teetering on the verge of collapse. – Source

A young man sits on top of his shack just in front of the destroyed former capital building of Haiti. In what resembled a post-apocalyptic world, refugee camps surrounded the remains of what once represented the glory of Haiti.

Street scene from Central Port-au-Prince. Many of the buildings in the center of town were completely destroyed during the earthquake, forcing everyone to crowd the streets in order to conduct business.

A beautiful yet disturbing image of the edge of a shanty town in the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Squatter settlements like this are common around the captial and demonstrate the level of poverty afflicting Haiti.

There are many shanty towns throughout Port-au-Prince. I am sure there were many before the earthquake but the number has only increased since.
