Haitian American Producer Mona Scott-Young Honored By Haiti Cherie At NYC Fundraiser

To keep attention on Haiti, Farbrice Armand decided to use his birthday as a platform to honor and celebrate Haitian culture, as well as, highlight those working to better the community. On Feb. 28 Armand hosted the third annual Haiti Cherie: Pride, Love, Commitment benefit at New York City’s Broad Street Ballroom. This year’s honorees included, architect Rodney Leon, Mona Scott Young, founder of Monami Entertainment and the Honorable Judge Lionel Jean-Baptiste.

Mona Scott-Young was one of three honorees honored for significant contributions to the community. A proud Haitian American, she is best known for creating and executive producing VH1 highly successful—and controversial—reality show franchise, ‘Love & Hip Hop.’ The other honorees were Founder of Rodney Leon Architects, Rodney Leon; and  Honorable Judge Lionel Jean Baptiste of Illinois. Notables spotted at the event included singer, Brianna Colette; Miss USA,Nana Meriwether; Miss TEEN USA, Logan West; and Atlanta-based news anchor, DeMarco Morgan.

Haiti Cherie was founded by Fabrice J. Armand, a Haitian “entrepreneur, producer and philanthropist who uses his birthday as a platform to fundraise for grassroot organizations that are making a significant impact in Haiti”. The event looks to to showcase the beauty, history, culture and contribution of Haitians to the World.
