Miss Haiti Universe, World & International Queens & Pageant Details

Saturday night, Raquel Pelissier was crowned Miss Haiti Universe during a live televised pageant at the Royal Oasis hotel in Petionville. Pelissier will now begin prepping for the 2016 Miss Universe competition taking place in the Philippines in January 2017.

After posting her picture on our social networks, we realize a lot of people are still confused about the Misses, the pageants and the difference between each pageant. Below are Haiti’s 2016 recently crowned queens, their pageant information and the difference between the three.

Meet your Miss Universe Haiti 2016 Raquel Pelissier. Pelissier was crowned on Saturday night and will represent Haiti at the Miss Universe Pageant January 30th 2017 in the Philippines. Pelissier is 24 years old, she holds a Masters in scientific research, speaks 4 languages and is an active and determined young woman who says she loves her country “Ayiti se fyète m, li dwe fyète nou tout pou sa chanje”.

Raquel succeeds to Lisa Drouillard, Miss Universe Haiti 2015.

Miss Universe: 

Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the Miss Universe Organization. Along with its rival contests, Miss World and Miss Earth, this pageant is one of the most important and publicized beauty pageants in the world. The current Miss Universe pageant was founded in 1952 by Pacific Knitting Mills, a California-based clothing company and manufacturer of Catalina Swimwear. Miss Universe is a full-time job,  Miss Universe title holders travel to different areas around the globe to perform charity work, speak for awareness occasions, and even crown national title holders and more.

According to Bustle, Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA are immediately relocated to New York City where they work closely with their respective charitable alliances. Titleholders have gone on to high-profile careers in government, business, finance, broadcasting, as well as film and television.

Meet your Miss International Haiti 2016 Cassandre Joseph. Joseph was also crowned on Saturday night along with Miss Universe Haiti. Joseph, 23, will represent Haiti at the Miss International 2016 on October 27’ 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. This edition will be the 56th edition of the worldwide acknowledged pageant.  Joseph is a 23-year-old doctor, chiropractor, model, and translator.  Cassandre succeeds to Viannye Ménard, Miss International Haiti 2015.

Miss International: 

Miss International (Miss International Beauty or The International Beauty Pageant) is a Tokyo-based international beauty pageant. Miss International pageant is an annual international beauty pageant which aims at promoting “Love Peace and Excitement to the World”. It was initiated in United States, in Long Beach, California in 1960. In the year 1968-1970 the pageant was held in Japan memorializing the Osaka World Exposition. For 1971 and 1972, it was held in Long Beach again, but after 1972, the pageant has been held in Japan.

The contestants of the pageant are expected to dole out as “Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty“, serving tenderness, generosity, friendship, beauty, intelligence and a great international sensibility. The pageant has also established the “Miss International Fund” which donates money to underprivileged children around the world, through UNICEF and other charity institutions.

Meet your Miss World Haiti 2016 Suzana Sampeur. Sampeur, 20, was crowned on August 13 at the Royal Decameron Hotel and will represent Haiti in Miss World 2016. The Miss World pageant will be held in Washington D.C., on December 20th, 2016.  Suzana Sampeur succeeds Seydina Allen as Miss Haiti title-holder. Sampeur is a business management students and a model.

Miss World:  

The 66th edition of Miss World is scheduled to be held in the capital of United States, Washington DC on December 20, 2016.  While the venue is still undecided for the finale, it is believed that the pre-pageant activities will commence on November 29, 2016 with departures scheduled on December 21, 2016. This will be the second time in history that Miss World will be held in the United States of America.

The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Eric Morley’s wife, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. “Beauty with a Purpose” is what the Miss World organizers say is at the heart of the competition. That’s the portion of the contest in which each contestant is judged on the impact she makes working with nonprofits, or starting her own, in the poorer parts of the world.The national title holders  support a variety of causes. Venezuela is the most successful country at Miss World pageant with six crowns, followed by India and United Kingdom with five crowns each.
