Watch ESPN Feature Mackensie Alexander : From Picking Oranges In The Grove to The NFL

Mackensie story is what dreams are made of, an inspiring  story of  hard work, resilience and a Haitian young man dreams to succeed and provide a better life for his family. What I appreciate most about this story is the fact that Mackensie continued to support his family by waking up in the morning to pick oranges in the field while he was a high profiled athlete at Clemson.

On Fiday, with their second-round selection, pick No. 54 overall, the Vikings drafted confident Clemson cornerback Mackensie Alexander. 22-year old Alexander was one of the top recruits in the country coming out of high school before signing on at Clemson. After a redshirt year, Alexander was a Freshman All-American in 2014 and was a third-team All-American last season as a redshirt sophomore before deciding to enter the draft.

In this ESPN SportsCenter feature, the segment focused on the life of the cornerback, who since the age of 10 has helped his family to make a living by picking oranges in the family’s orange grove in Immokalee, Florida.

Congratulations Mackensie, we all shae in your excietement. I’m a patriots fan but I’ll make sure to root for you this upcoming NFL season.
