Celebrating Whenda “Wanda” Tima on Haitian Flag Day

For Whenda “Wanda” Tima, founder of L’union Suite, Haitian Flag Day is not only a national celebration—it’s also a deeply personal moment of reflection, pride, and gratitude.

On May 18, 2021, the City of North Miami Beach honored Tima’s outstanding contributions to the Haitian-American community by officially proclaiming the date Whenda Tima Day. The recognition was a full-circle moment for a woman who has spent over a decade amplifying Haitian voices, culture, and excellence on a global stage.

“It’s incredibly meaningful to celebrate Haitian Flag Day knowing that my efforts for our community were recognized and appreciated on such a historic day,” Tima shared. “I’m forever grateful for the last 13 years, waking up excited every day to do what I love and feeling the love in return.”

The recognition continued in 2024, when Miami-Dade County declared April 4th as Whenda Tima Day throughout the entire county—further affirming her impact across South Florida and the Haitian diaspora.

Founded in 2011, L’union Suite has grown into one of the most trusted and influential media platforms representing Haitian culture, identity, and achievement. Under Tima’s leadership, the platform has become a hub for storytelling, celebration, and connection for Haitians around the world.

As she celebrates Haitian Flag Day and both of her officially proclaimed days, Tima remains humble and grateful:

“Happy Haitian Flag Day and Whenda Tima Day! Thank you to the City of North Miami Beach, Miami-Dade County, my amazing @LunionSuite team, family, friends, and all of our supporters. Mèsi anpil for believing in this mission.”

Whenda Tima’s journey is a testament to the power of purpose, passion, and pride in one’s roots. Her work through L’union Suite continues to inspire a generation of Haitians to own their narrative, celebrate their heritage, and pursue excellence unapologetically.
