The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) has officially announced the end of its partnership with head coach Sébastien Migné, concluding a chapter that included one of the most significant achievements in the history of Haitian football.
In a press release issued today, the FHF said the decision was made by mutual agreement and in a spirit of respect and dialogue. The federation thanked Migné for his professionalism, commitment, and dedication throughout his time leading the men’s national team.
Migné will be remembered for guiding Les Grenadiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending Haiti’s 52-year absence from football’s biggest tournament. Appointed in March 2024, he was tasked with returning Haiti to CONCACAF Nations League A, qualifying for the Concacaf Gold Cup, and earning a place at the World Cup. During his tenure, he also expanded the national team by integrating several high-profile players from the Haitian diaspora, including Wilson Isidor, Jean-Kévin Duverne, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.
Despite the historic qualification, Haiti’s World Cup campaign ended in disappointment. Drawn into a challenging Group C with Brazil, Morocco, and Scotland, the Grenadiers were eliminated after losing all three group-stage matches without earning a point.
The team’s performance sparked widespread debate among supporters and football analysts. Many criticized Migné’s tactical decisions, including his defensive approach in certain matches and player selection, while others argued that Haiti faced one of the toughest groups in the tournament and should not lose sight of the accomplishment of returning to the World Cup after more than five decades.
In its statement, the FHF expressed gratitude for Migné’s contributions to Haitian football and wished him success in the next stage of his coaching career. The federation also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening and professionalizing Haitian football as it prepares for future international competitions.
The FHF has not yet announced who will succeed Migné as head coach of the Haitian men’s national team.
