When you ask Margareth “Maggie” Ambroise what makes her proudest serving as the director of the North Miami Florida Blue Center she says, “Helping to guide, educate and inform the community on achieving better health while being a true partner in the community.”
Florida Blue Centers have long been a trusted resource in the communities they serve, helping members (and non-members) navigate their health care and live healthier, happier lives.
As the director of the North Miami Florida Blue Center, Ambroise oversees the overall business of helping people achieve better health, including providing resources, connecting with the community, and being a support center – providing education to the community.
A native of Port Au Prince, Haiti, Maggie moved to Miami when she was 8 years old. She attended Barry University, before moving to Orlando and then Jacksonville where she joined Florida Blue in 2006. Her statewide training led her back to Miami where she became center director in 2013. In her 15 years with Florida Blue, Maggie has held a variety of positions with the company including sales, training, and most recently as center director.
“Our centers have served as significant hubs of information during the ACA Marketplace open enrollment season -which began November 1 and runs through January 15 – where individuals and their families receive personal consultations on Marketplace plans available to them,” said Ambroise. “We have professional, Creole-speaking sales and service advocates ready to help members and potential members alike, community specialists who provide assistance to members and non-members secure social services. We even host a variety of community health-driven activities such as free health seminars, lunch and learns and fitness classes.”
While the COVID-19 pandemic did close down in-person operations at all Florida Blue Centers for slightly more than a year for the health and safety of employees and members, the centers reopened to in-person services this past July. All 31 centers are now open, with 12 in South Florida.
Added Ambroise, “Our goal is to serve and engage with customers in whatever way they feel most comfortable—in-person, virtual visits, by phone, and even curbside consultation while remaining in their vehicle. We’ve even introduced curbside check-in, so if a member doesn’t want to come and wait in our center, we can check them in at the curb and come out and get them when it’s time for their appointment.”
All centers have also implemented new distancing and sanitation practices to ensure the safety of employees and customers, following guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the state of Florida.
