Trump Sparks Backlash After Posting AI Image Depicting Him as Christ-Like Figure

President Donald Trump faced sharp criticism from unexpected quarters on Sunday evening after he shared an AI-generated image on Truth Social that portrayed him in a Christ-like role, dressed in flowing robes and healing a sick man with divine light emanating from his hands.

The now-deleted image included strong patriotic elements such as an American flag, bald eagles, the Statue of Liberty, fighter jets, and adoring supporters. The post quickly drew intense backlash, particularly from conservative Christian commentators and influencers who have traditionally been among Trump’s strongest supporters.

Prominent evangelical writer Megan Basham called for the president to immediately remove the image and seek forgiveness, stating it was “no laughing matter.” Catholic influencer and Daily Wire podcaster Isabel Brown described the post as “disgusting and unacceptable,” arguing that it showed a profound misunderstanding of the current cultural moment, which she said is marked by a genuine revival of faith in Christ.

Even longtime Trump ally former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) publicly condemned the image, labeling it an “Antichrist spirit” and saying she was praying against it.

The image was removed from Trump’s Truth Social account by Monday morning amid the growing outcry.

When asked about the controversial post by reporters, President Trump pushed back against interpretations that the image depicted him as Jesus.

“It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better!” Trump said.

He added that he viewed the rendering as related to medical healing or the Red Cross, and insisted that only the “fake news” would twist it into something religious.

The AI-generated image drew condemnation from both ends of the political and religious spectrum. Conservative Christian voices called it blasphemous or sacrilegious, while some liberal critics echoed similar sentiments. On the other hand, several Trump supporters dismissed the controversy as overblown, arguing that the image was intended as humorous meme-style satire rather than a serious religious claim.

The White House did not issue an official statement beyond the president’s on-the-record comments to reporters.

This incident marks one of the rare occasions in which Trump has faced significant public criticism from within his own evangelical and conservative Christian base.

The story continues to generate strong reactions across social media and religious communities.
