Gunshots rang out near the main stage of the second annual Taste of Miami Karnival in Little Haiti late Sunday night, leaving one man dead and two others hospitalized, according to Miami police.
Officers responded shortly before midnight after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire in the area of Northeast Second Avenue and Northeast 62nd Street. Three victims — two men and one woman, were found shot at the popular cultural festival.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene or en route to the hospital. The other two victims were transported to area hospitals and are listed in stable condition.
No suspects are in custody, and the investigation remains active. Miami police have not yet released the identities of the victims or any information about a possible motive.
The shooting occurred during the Taste of Miami Karnival, a vibrant event celebrating Miami’s diverse communities through food, arts, music, and entertainment. Witnesses described scenes of chaos and a stampede as panicked attendees fled the area after the shots were fired.
Authorities noted that this incident was one of three separate shootings reported across Miami-Dade County over the weekend, though details on the other cases were not immediately available.
The Taste of Miami Karnival is intended to be a family-friendly celebration of Caribbean and local culture, particularly highlighting the rich Haitian heritage of the Little Haiti neighborhood.
Miami police spokeswoman Officer Kenia Fallat confirmed the department is actively gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
This remains a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
