On August 20, 2025, Haiti’s Council of Ministers announced a new leadership team for Cap-Haïtien, appointing Angie Bell as president of the municipal commission—effectively making her the city’s new mayor. She will serve alongside Patrick Almonor, a returning member of the commission, and Isaac Pierre-Louis, a newcomer to local governance. This appointment is part of a broader nationwide restructuring of municipal leadership.
Bell’s selection marks a defining moment for Cap-Haïtien, a city celebrated for its cultural heritage and historical significance. Known online as @ngbel, Bell is a Haitian whose journey spans continents, industries, and causes. Raised in Cap-Haïtien, she later lived in the United States, where she developed a reputation as a creative entrepreneur and passionate advocate for Haitian culture.
Her decision to return home is deeply personal. Bell’s father founded Collège Bell Angelot, and she carries forward his legacy of educational leadership. Today, she serves as Vice-Rector at Université des Atlantes, where she empowers young Haitians through innovative academic and leadership programs. Her nonprofit, the SEproject, expands educational opportunities for underserved children while also raising funds to support the Justinien University Hospital.
Beyond education, Bell has worked tirelessly to highlight Haiti’s creativity and resilience. In 2014, she co-founded Atizan International, a platform connecting Haitian artisans with global audiences. She has promoted tourism through experiences like pop-up picnics, and her media work—including co-hosting Ayiti Parle on Isl
and TV—has amplified conversations around Haitian identity, heritage, and progress.
One of Bell’s most notable contributions is in the fight for a cleaner environment. Through PouBèlAyiti (@poubelayiti), she transformed waste management into a cultural movement—turning trash into art while teaching communities about recycling and environmental responsibility.
