Back-to-back qualification achieved as young Grenadiers top CONCACAF Group C in must-win clash
Guatemala City, Guatemala – February 12, 2026 In a high-stakes, must-win showdown at Estadio Cementos Progreso, Haiti’s U-17 national team, Les Petits Grenadiers, defeated hosts Guatemala 2-1 to secure their spot in the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
The victory marks an unprecedented back-to-back qualification for Haiti’s youth program, following their debut participation in the 2025 edition — a remarkable feat that underscores the rapid rise of Haitian football at the youth level.
Entering the decisive final match of CONCACAF Group C qualifiers, Haiti sat in second place behind Guatemala on goal difference after dominant victories: 5-1 over Grenada and 4-0 over Antigua and Barbuda. Guatemala, playing at home with the advantage of a draw securing qualification, faced a determined Haitian side that refused to back down in front of a passionate, hostile crowd.
The match was tense and fiercely contested from kickoff. Despite early pressure and trailing at points, the Grenadiers showed immense resilience, character, and tactical discipline to mount a comeback and claim the 2-1 result that sealed their advancement.
This win also represents Haiti’s second consecutive competitive victory over Guatemala in recent years, highlighting the team’s growing strength, confidence, and ability to perform under intense pressure.
With this result, Haiti tops the group (or secures the required qualification spot) and heads to Qatar 2026, where they will look to build on their recent World Cup experience and continue inspiring a new generation of Haitian talent.
The qualification is a massive boost for Haitian football and a source of immense national pride amid ongoing challenges at home. Les Petits Grenadiers have shown the world what Haitian determination and unity can achieve on the pitch.
Congratulations to the players, coaching staff, and all supporters who believed!
Haiti is Qatar-bound once again.
Let’s go Haiti!

![Grammy-winning producer and Haitian cultural ambassador Michaël Brun is bringing BAYO back to Miami’s Little Haiti on November 22, for a free block party celebrating the movement’s 10th anniversary, made possible through a major partnership with Rockstar Games.
Presented with support from Rockstar Games, the company behind the #GrandTheftAuto (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/grandtheftauto/) franchise, the event will welcome up to 7,500 attendees, the largest Little Haiti edition to date. Admission is free, with tickets distributed through a raffle and more than half reserved specifically for Florida residents and Haitian communities. Fans can sign up now at [bayotour.com]
In announcing the return, Brun said: “10 years ago, BAYO made its US debut as a free block party in Little Haiti celebrating Haitian and Caribbean culture. That show was the beginning of a beautiful journey across 12 cities, over 50,000 tickets sold, multiple arena and park shows and over 140 artist guests from around the world. I’m so proud to be bringing BAYO back to Little Haiti for our biggest show ever on November 22nd. New venue, huge surprises, our most iconic lineup of all time and FREE tickets courtesy of Rockstar Games.”
The timing adds another layer of visibility. Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated GTA VI is set for release on November 19, 2026, just three days before the BAYO celebration. The game’s fictional Vice City is famously inspired by Miami, placing the partnership and the Little Haiti event in the same cultural spotlight.
The Little Haiti return closes an anniversary run that already included Boston’s Agganis Arena and a sold-out three-night residency at Brooklyn Paramount. With Rockstar Games’ support making the celebration free and accessible, the 10th anniversary returns full circle to the neighborhood where BAYO began, bringing music, culture, and community together on a bigger stage.
