The Miami Dolphins added depth and versatility to their defense on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, selecting Kyle Louis with the No. 138 overall pick in the fourth round.
A 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker, Louis brings explosive athleticism, strong coverage ability, and a relentless “shark mentality” to South Florida. He joins a Dolphins defense seeking depth and playmaking behind established starters like Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson.
Originally from East Orange, Louis developed into a standout athlete at East Orange Campus High School before elevating his game at University of Pittsburgh. Over four seasons (2022–2025), he started 27 games and compiled an impressive stat line: 201 tackles, 10 sacks, and six interceptions, a rare combination of production that highlights his versatility.
Louis earned First-Team All-American honors in 2024 and Second-Team All-ACC recognition in 2025, solidifying his reputation as one of the most dynamic linebackers in college football. His strong performances at both the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine further boosted his draft stock, where he showcased elite athletic testing numbers for his position.
Proud of his Haitian-American heritage, Louis has often spoken about how his upbringing in East Orange shaped his mindset. The son of Kesha Chisolms and Galy Louis, he credits his family and community for instilling discipline, toughness, and a relentless work ethic. He has also drawn inspiration from fellow East Orange native Jabrill Peppers, modeling his game after the versatile defender’s ability to impact multiple positions.
Analysts have praised Louis as a high-upside addition for Miami. Despite being considered slightly undersized, his speed, instincts, and ability to adapt within defensive scheme, particularly under coordinator Jeff Hafley, make him a strong fit for the Dolphins’ system.
Louis now joins a growing list of Pitt Panthers making the transition to the NFL and becomes another Haitian-American talent representing on the professional stage. With training camp ahead, he is expected to compete for immediate playing time on defense and special teams, while developing into a potential starter for the future.
For the Dolphins and their fans, Kyle Louis brings energy, versatility, and hunger qualities that could make him a key contributor in the seasons to come.
