Naomi Osaka Stuns at Roland Garros with Custom “Court-ure” and Strong First-Round Victory

Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka once again proved she is a force both in fashion and on the tennis court during her opening match at the 2026 French Open.

For her first-round match against Germany’s Laura Siegemund on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, the Haitian-Japanese star made a memorable entrance in a striking custom outfit designed by Swiss couturier Kevin Germanier in collaboration with Nike.

The Custom Look

Germanier, known for his innovative use of upcycled materials, deconstructed elements from Osaka’s past competition gear to create the dramatic outer layer. The ensemble featured:

  • A structured black sleeveless corset top with intricate beading
  • A semi-sheer pleated cascading skirt made from the internal lining of one of her previous jackets
  • Snap closures for versatility and movement on the court

Underneath, Osaka wore a shimmering gold Nike dress that sparkled under the Paris sun. The combination of high couture and athletic functionality was widely praised as standout “Court-ure.”

Outlander Magazine, which recently featured Osaka, highlighted the moment, stating: “Roland Garros’ best dressed just raised the bar again. Naomi’s custom Nike looks were designed by Kevin Germanier, the couture designer turning upcycled materials into something iconic.”

Osaka backed up her bold fashion statement with a solid performance on the clay court. She defeated experienced German clay-court specialist Laura Siegemund in straight sets: 6-3, 7-6(3).

The No. 16 seed dominated the first set and showed great composure in a competitive second set, winning the tiebreak to advance comfortably to the second round.

This strong start marks a positive beginning to Osaka’s 2026 Roland Garros campaign as she looks to make a deep run at the French Open.
